Is the next Star Trek coming from Quentin Tarantino?
By Staff Writer 8 December 2017 | Categories: newsCan it be that the next Star Trek movie might just be directed by Quentin Tarantino? According to Deadline, it seems like the project might not be a simple pipe dream. Deadline reported that Tarantino pitched an idea to JJ Abrams and Paramount, who were impressed enough to assemble a bunch of writers to meet with Tarantino. The frontrunner to write the script is apparently Mark L. Smith who wrote the screenplay for The Revenant and the seriously messed up Martyrs.
Star Trek fans were spoiled this year. Discovery took the series in a new direction, with Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville on hand to catch fans who turned against Discovery’s unfamiliar ways. Who knows how a Tarantino-directed Star Trek movie will be received, but it will certainly take a dramatic new turn. Tarantino required that his movie will be R-rated, basically making sex, violence and swearing in space all possible. And Abrams and Paramount agreed.
When and if this Star Trek movie will appear remains to be seen, with Tarantino currently in pre-production with an untitled project about the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles.
