Jason is back, in announcement trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 14 October 2015 | Categories: newsJason Voorhees, of Friday the 13th infamy, has gone through many incarnations, most recent of which was in Mortal Kombat X. Now, Mr. Voorhees is readying to feature in a new Friday the 13th game by Gun Media. The developers are currently using Kickstarter to get the project fully funded, and have released a teaser announcement trailer.
The trailer is narrated by Jason's mother, with those young and virile American teens returning to Camp Crystal Lake, in spite of the horror-filled tales of last summer. As such, it's up to Jason to set them straight.
What's particularly interesting about this title, is that instead of gamers running away from and trying to avoid the killer, as seen in games like Until Dawn (review), we'll get the chance to play as Jason. Added to this, other gamers can join in on the multiplayer action as one of seven Camp Crystal Lake survivors, delivering a gaming experience akin to Evolve's 4v1 mode.
At this stage, Friday the 13th: The game has a funding goal of $700 000, having reached $243 215 so far, with 30 days to go. As usual backers will receive rewards based on the amount of money they pledge. For example, $40 gives you a First to Die DLC, and $100 serving up digital artwork and an in-game credit.
