LG confirms OLED screen for next flagship with V30 being touted
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 3 August 2017 | Categories: newsAugust is a significant month for several smartphone manufacturers, with the likes of Samsung, Asus and LG all debuting their latest and greatest. The latter comes into focus at the moment, with LG confirming that its next flagship device will sport an OLED display. With the LG V30 being debuted in Berlin on 31 August, it is widely expected to be the device in question.
It would also be the first time since the LG Flex2 in 2015 that the company has opted for an OLED screen in one of its flagship devices. Along with featuring the screen manufacturing technology, LG has noted that the forthcoming display will be FullVision, like the G6 and Q6 smarthphones. Added to this it will have an 18:9/2:1 aspect ratio and is said to cover 109% DCI-P3 of the colour spectrum and support HDR10.
While we're yet to see what the full flagship looks like, LG has teased an image for the bottom portion of the forthcoming device. As far as looks go, it has an air of Galaxy S8 about it, with a curved edge for the frame and a similar bezel to that of Samsung's current flagship.
With LG and Samsung preparing to release new devices this month, it should prove interesting to see which of the pair impresses more with their upcoming flagships.
