Man in the High Castle set for a full season
By Staff Writer 4 March 2015 | Categories: newsPhilip K. Dick is one of our favourite writers, so it was with great happiness that we heard that his Hugo-award winning book, The Man in the High Castle, has been greenlit by Amazon for a full series. Yes, Amazon (Studios) is also producing series now, just like its compatriots over at Yahoo and Netflix.
Dick’s alternative history novel, where the Nazis won the war and the States is split between a Nazi east and Japanese west, was produced as a pilot last year, and ended up as Amazon’s most watched pilot ever.
Four other Amazon Original Series were approved for a full season, including the comedy Mad Dogs; docu-series The New Yorker Presents, along with kids shows Just Add Magic, and The Stinky & Dirty Show.
Back to Dick - as one of the seminal science fiction writers, he was obsessed with "What is reality?" and "What constitutes the authentic human being?". For a starting point to his world, try his 1978 essay How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later.
Check the two clips below for a bit more info on The Man in the High Castle series, while the final video has the complete pilot. Watch it before it’s taken down, or, if you can, watch it over at Amazon.
