Marvel and Square Enix are teaming up to make many superhero games
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 27 January 2017 | Categories: news"The world will always need heroes. They just need to reassemble." Is this why Marvel and developers Square Enix just announced a partnership to create a number of superhero games over the coming years?
The pair shared their announcement with a trailer on YouTube. It's said to include a license for a multi-game agreement, publishing original titles featuring Marvel characters. What precisely the scope of these projects will be is not know yet, but one of the first will likely be an Avengers game, given the evidence in the trailer below.
The trailer seems to have taken place after a catastrophic event, with the weapons from key members of the Avengers strewn across the screen, including Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield and Iron-Man’s gauntlet. While there's no evidence at this stage, we think the game developer could be preparing a title to follow the impending Avengers: Infinity War movie, which will be split into two parts and is currently slated for release in 2018.
Much of this in conjecture at the moment, so we'll have to wait and hear from both Marvel and Square Enix what they have planned exactly.
