"The world needs heroes, and over 25 MILLION have answered the call." These are the words from developers Blizzard, following Overwatch's milestone of reaching 25 million registered players recently. The company took to Twitter to celebrate, and it shows that the MMO First Person Shooter title has not lost any momentum since it first debuted in May last year.

In fact, Polygon estimates that the game's number of registered players has increased by nearly 25% in the past three months, with roughly 20 million gamers since October last year. Overwatch is no stranger to garnering huge numbers, a week after its open beta, the game had nine million registered players.

As for how many users the game can log in 2017, we'll have to wait and see. For now though, gamers can enjoy the Year of the Rooster event until 13 February. Check it out in the video below.
