Still on Windows 7 and 8.1? Expect to be hit with some annoying full screen pop ups from Microsoft. As the free upgrade to Windows 10 offer comes to an end on 29 July, the company is reminding old OS customers, luckily not with the blue screen of death, but another slightly less destructive one. “Sorry to interrupt, but this is important,” the message reads, ending with, “Upgrade your PC before the offer ends!”

It provides the options to ‘Upgrade Now’, or ‘Remind me later’, which will make the screen appear again after three days of being selected.

Microsoft is pushing hard to get customers to upgrade, not really wanting to be saddled with large numbers of legacy users as happened with Windows XP. Recently a travel agent won $10 000 in compensation when Windows 10 automatically tried (and failed) to install on her Windows 7 PC.
