Naamsa releases new vehicle sales figures - November 2013

These numbers reveal which were the best selling cars in South Africa during November 2013.
According to Naamsa, the total number of new vehicles sold in South Africa during November 2013 amounted to 50 806 units, resulting in a year-on-year decline of 4.6% or 2459 vehicles when compared to November 2012’s 53 265 units sold. Export sales also experienced a year-on-year drop of 4.8%.
Sales breakdown
The organisation’s data revealed that the new passenger car sector experienced the steepest decline last month, as sales dipped by 5.9% year-on-year, or 2164 units, when compared to sales of 36 431 new cars during November 2012. New light commercial vehicles, bakkies and mini-buses fared slightly better with sales of 13 719 units during November, reflecting a decline of 610 units or year-on-year drop of 4.3%.
Overall, dealer sales were responsible for the lion’s share (83%) of new local vehicle sales, whilst 8.5% were sales to the car rental industry, 3.2% represented sales to industry corporate fleets, and 5.3% were vehicle sales to government.
