It's been some time since a good game to TV series adaptation has taken place, but that could change with an impending Netflix-produced Castlevania show in the works. The streaming service held a press briefing recently detailing all the programming it had scheduled, or in the pipeline for the rest of the year. As discovered by io9, one show in particular has jumped out.

io9 was able to find a single line within a press release that read, "Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 Coming to Netflix in 2017." As for the format it will take, it has not been officially confirmed whether it will be live action or animated at this stage, but we're leaning towards the latter given the 2017 time frame.

Who will be tackling this potentially epic TV series? Well Adi Shankar has stepped forward, whose previous producing credits include Dredd (Karl Urban) and the dark Power Rangers short film from a few years ago.

For now, not much else is known about this new Castlevania series, but given Netflix's recent track record, it could be great.
