With 2018 well underway, Netflix's plans for the year include an investment of up to $8 billion on new content. This is set to include the usual original TV series and movies that the company has been making for the past few years, but now is reported to feature a weekly news show too.
According to MarketWatch, which cites an unnamed executive that recently partnered with Netflix on a documentary, the company is actively looking at creating a news show. "Netflix have spotted a hole in the market for a current affairs TV show encompassing both sides of the political divide and are seeking to fill it," noted the executive.
The release of a weekly news show would be a first for the platform, and could mark a significant step in the creation of more live content. When the show will see the light of day, or if it's development is indeed happening, remains to be seen.
