New 15-inch MacBook Pro reportedly arriving in second half of this year
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 17 January 2017 | Categories: newsApple's latest MacBook Pro has come under scrutiny recently following Consumer Reports' unwillingness to recommend the notebook over battery concerns. These issues have since been addressed in a update, and Consumer Reports has given the new MacBook Pro (Touch Bar) the all-good. Apple can now safely turn its attention to newer devices, and reports suggest a 13" and 15" model featuring Intel's Kaby Lake processors are on the way for the latter half of this year.
The reports come via MacRumors, which cites noted Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo. According to Kuo, Apple is readying for production of new 12" MacBooks (first to feature single USB Type-C port) in March this year, with an expected RAM configuration of 8 GB and 16 GB. Onto the larger offering, with Kuo's sources indicating that 13" and 15" models will feature Intel's latest processor, as well as a significant redesign plus a 32 GB RAM option. Production for these notebooks are expected to begin in July, with an unveiling in Q3, perhaps at an Apple special event.
With another trio of notebooks reportedly on the way for 2017, Kuo also believes that Apple's shipments will continue their consistent 10% year-on-year growth. With Apple yet to comment on any of these rumours, more information will likely be forthcoming.
