New Nokia 6 only for China, but is there more to come?
By Staff Writer 11 January 2017 | Categories: newsIf you are longing for a new original Nokia phone that’s not the Microsoft Lumia kind, say thank you for 2017, since Nokia is back with a fresh smartphone on the horizon. Called the Nokia 6, it sports for the first time an Android operating system, and is built on behalf of Nokia by HMB Global.
Unfortunately, you need to book yourself a plane ticket to Beijing to get one, since the new device will be a China exclusive. Through a press release, HMD Global stated that the decision to launch in China is, “a reflection of the desire to meet the real world needs of consumers in different markets around the world”.
However, don’t lose hope just yet. On the Nokia Facebook page, the company replied to a number of enthusiastic questions on whether the phone will be available in other countries, that more details will follow on 26 February – a day before the start of Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. It could mean that Nokia is set to launch not only more devices, but also for different markets.
The Nokia 6 though looks destined to be China only, so you won’t be able to get your hands on the 5.5” Full HD device, complete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage and 16 MP camera. It is far from a flagship device, so we can only hope that come 26 February, we see a competitive headliner, complete with the old Nokia build quality that we know and love. TechSmart will keep you posted.
