Nintendo Direct details upcoming Wii U and 3DS game releases
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 2 April 2015 | Categories: newsSo yesterday was April Fool's, the one day that most online journalists dread, as they try to separate genuine stories from cleverly coordinated hoaxes. Thankfully though, saner heads have prevailed in Japan as Nintendo was all business during their Nintendo Direct event. For those unfamiliar with the gaming company's showcase event, it often serves as a platform for all the gaming goodness that users can look forward to in coming months. This time was no different, as Nintendo detailed a slew of new games and gaming content expected to arrive on both the Wii U and 3DS units.
Along with the announcements, Nintendo also released a handy video. A tad long at 49 minutes, it does however sum up the entire day long event's key announcements rather nicely.
With a mammoth 31 announcements in all, we've decided to hone in on three in particular. The first is the addition of Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS games to the Wii U Virtual Console, which, when used with one's handheld console, will provide a secondary gaming interface. Next is the new Fire Emblem game for 3DS, which is a mixture of Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft. Fire Emblem is scheduled for release in 2016, but we've added a trailer for the game below to tide you over till then. Last is a number of additions to the Nintendo eShop, including forma.8, Never Alone and Octodad: Dadliest Catch to name a few.
