Earlier this week, BlackBerry detailed its shift regarding the manufacture of smartphones and mobile devices. The company will instead outsource the design and building of devices to a third party, while focusing on its enterprise and software solutions.

Many described this as the beginning of the end for BlackBerry's products, specifically its QWERTY keyboard-sporting ones, but CEO John Chen recently clarified the company's position.

In an interview with BNN, Chen stated that BlackBerry would manufacture a QWERTY keyboard smartphone in the not too distant future. The precise timeline for the device has not been detailed at this stage, but it appears that BlackBerry has not had its swansong just yet, and may still produce its own devices along with outsourced ones.
