Quicker reaction GIFs come to Google's iOS Gboard
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 22 January 2018 | Categories: newsWhen it comes to features on Google's Gboard, the Android version of the virtual keyboard has had a foot up on its iOS counterpart. This latest update for the mobile tool, however, will be welcome news for those touting an iOS device, with faster and easier reaction GIF creation now available.
Anyone addicted to memes will know that a well placed GIF can mean the difference between mediocrity and virality, with this latest feature aimed at facilitating the latter. The GIF creation button, spotted by The Verge initially, is now placed next to the word suggestion bar in Gboard, and no longer hidden away as it was before.
Added to this is the ability to record short video snippets for the GIF creator with one's front facing camera, which should make reactions far easier to capture. The GIFs last roughly three seconds, but there is a fast forwarding function that will allow users to capture up to a minute of footage for their creation.
This latest addition remains limited to iOS for now, with no word on when it will be porting to Android at this stage, so enjoy the exclusivity while you can iOS users.
