Reports suggest 4K display sporting Chromebook could be on the way
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 5 April 2018 | Categories: newsChromebooks for the most part are value for money devices, costing a reasonable amount and affording users access to Google's suite of notebook-based applications and services. In the past they've normally sported middling specifications, with displays in particular very rarely veering higher than Full HD. That could change, however, with a discovery by XDA Developers unearthing a few hints in Google's Chromium OS source code.
To that end the codename for a device called Atlas was found, along with some details of its screen capabilities, with a 3840x2160 (4K) resolution. Added to the display information, the mystery device is also said to operate sans SD card slot, like the Pixelbook.
For now, that's all the details on the Atlas Chromebook, with no mention of when the device could see the light of day. With Google I/O around the corner (8-10 May 2018), and no real notable hardware announcements in the offing at this stage, it may prove the best time to bring a new Chromebook to the fore.
