Rumoured 4K PS4 expected to debut before PlayStation VR October launch
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 29 March 2016 | Categories: newsA couple of weeks ago, Kotaku reported that a 4K PS4 was in the works from Sony. Now The Wall Street Journal is adding further credence, stating that the aforementioned console could arrive later this year. The anticipated launch window is believed to be a month or two before Sony's PlayStation VR (PSVR) October release.
The rumoured console will feature two new additions. The first sees the support of 4K (3840x2160) resolution. The second is more battery power for the PSVR device, which will work in conjunction with the new console. Added to this is an upgraded processor, as well as a faster graphics chip, both of which will be used to further enable 4K gameplay, according to reports.
For now, finer details on the 4K PS4 is hard to come by. That said, if the pre-October launch date is indeed true, we might see Sony divulge more information on said console during E3 2016 in June or Gamescom in August.
