Samsung debuts new social media platform, Waffle, at SXSW
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 16 March 2016 | Categories: newsSamsung is working on something new, oddly, a social media platform called Waffle. The platform was recently unveiled at SXSW, currently underway in Austin, Texas, and combines elements from Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook to allow connected users to collaborate via images.
If that sounds a little vague, we'll elaborate. Users will take an original photo or image, then share it with others using the Waffle platform, who will add their own images to the original to create a digital collage of sorts. Samsung's experimental C-Lab, which developed the platform, refers to this as a "communal graffiti wall".
While it looks intriguing, it seems like Samsung has to hash out some of the privacy setting first, especially if users want to share the final graffiti wall image to other users outside the Waffle platform. Right now, Waffle is in the beta testing phase, so its fate still remains unclear.
