In their ongoing bid to turn more of a profit, Snapchat may be turning to unskippable ads to get the job done. The social media platform is gearing up to test new ads that cannot be skipped, which the company unoriginally calls 'Commercials'.

Snapchat also notes that the test ads will only be placed on a select number of its shows, and will not be showcased on personal stories or the platform's Discover news page. According to Digiday, the test is set to begin sometime next month, with it reported that Snapchat wants to see how many of the unskippable ads users will be able to tolerate.

As such, they will need to play their cards right, as an overabundance of unskippable ads could drive even more users away from the platform, which would ultimately affect how much they'll be able to charge advertisers for the service.

It should be interesting to see if Commercials will be Snapchat's saving grace.
