For many, the FIA World Rally Championship is not just the distant cousin of F1, it actually comes close to the reason for living. Those that follow WRC on the console and PC, will be more than happy to learn about the release of a new trailer for WRC 5. Set for release in spring this year (on the Xbox One + 360, PlayStation 4, 3 + Vita, and the PC), it also comes with a few screenshots, which are spruced throughout this article.

The trailer features the Ford Fiesta RS WRC from the M-Ford World Rally Team traversing a range of landscapes and weather conditions, paying no attention to the brownish tint of the landscape.

With these new trailer & screenshots, we want to show different locations and challenges that are waiting for players” says Alain Jarniou, WRC 5 game director. “From the frozen roads and snow banks of Sweden, to the narrow and sandy lines of Sardinia, or even the fast technical sections of Finland, we really want to put players into real drivers’ gloves. That’s why we worked hard to recreate the special atmosphere at each of the 13 rallies that makes the WRC so diverse,” declares Alain Jarniou.

After the latest trailer, we’ve also posted the first gameplay video that has been released, made from the beta version of the game. You are placed in the safe hands of double World Champion and French driver, Sébastien Ogier and his Volkswagen Polo R WRC, on the mythical roads of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal. It presents a full stage made of 90% gravel and 10% asphalt, under sunny conditions at midday. Missing from the action is the Head-Up display plus the audio and visual pacenotes, which apparently still needs a bit of work.

Strap yourself in, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
