Do you remember The Mist, a 2007 horror movie based on the Stephen King book? If not, we can definitely recommend trying to find it. Those who are fans of the movie will be happy to learn that it has been confirmed that The Mist will now be turned into a TV series.

In case you are not up to speed, here’s a quick lowdown – the movie took place in a small town that is suddenly beset by the appearance of a strange mist. While many take refuge in a supermarket, it quickly becomes apparent that they are not safe for long, and their biggest threat to their health, for once, doesn’t lie in the sugar laden sweets aisle.

As if the nightmares coming to life in this dense shroud weren’t enough for the residents to contend with, the movie had a great mix of characters, from the disturbing to the stupid, that also jeopardises the group’s safety.

It will be interesting though to see if the TV series follows along the same lines, or offers a different explanation for the goings on. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a Stephen King book hasn’t been roughly adapted for the small screen (rest in peace, Under the Dome).

According to Deadline, apparently it will be the townsfolk’s worst nightmares that emerge from the midst, as their dreams are given form. What precipitated this is though, is anybody’s guess.

Picking up the pen for the TV series is Christian Torpe (Rita),  but there’s no word yet as to who will be sitting in the director’s chair. Don’t hold your breath for Frank Darabont, who directed the movie though. There is no word yet at to when we can see the series or how many episodes it may receive, nor on which network it will debut. Those details, we suspect, will become clearer closer to the time. In the meantime, you can satiate your need for chills with the trailer for the movie, in case you are wondering whether you should pick it up on the weekend.
