This year has been and continues to be a fantastic year for gaming, and it looks like next year will be off to a promising start as well. More specifically, The Witness has been announced for release on the PS4 in January. The game, from the same developer of the acclaimed Braid, is an exploration puzzler.

Apparently though, The Witness is on track to being far larger than originally planned, jumping from offering between eight and twelve hours of gameplay, to something closer 80 or even 100 hours for completionists.

It looks like the game will be set on a lush island, full of a variety of different environments to explore and of course, numerous puzzles to solve. Accompanying the announcement is a new trailer, which is worth checking out below.
