This past weekend was a good one for upcoming movies. From animated films, dark comedies and projects from streaming platforms, there was something for everyone. To that end, we got to see and hear what Benedict Cumberbatch's (Sherlock) version of the Grinch will be like, along with what could be a sleeper dark comedy in the form of Sorry To Bother You.

Scroll down to see which of the five new trailers piques your interest.

The Grinch

If you enjoyed the Despicable Me or Minions films, the latest project from Illumination Studios might be for you. It's an animated take on The Grinch, with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the titular role. While we're more partial to Jim Carrey's iconic performance for the role, Cumberbatch does certainly have the chops to take it on, having previously done Smaug in The Hobbit films.

Release date: 9 November 2018 (United States)
Best bit: The Grinch's odd choice of pants.

Sorry To Bother You

Starring one of our new favourite oddball actors, Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta), Sorry To Bother You looks like a great offbeat comedy that many coasters or late-bloomers might enjoy. A call centre operator, Stanfield's character of Cash does plenty of daydreaming, which often gets him into trouble, as well as some very weird scenarios.

Release date: 6 July 2018 (United States)
Best bit: Hearing Cash's white voice.

The House of Tomorrow

The House of Tomorrow is a coming of age story with a difference. Sebastian (Asa Butterfield, Ender's Game) is a young man who's lived a sheltered life with his grandmother in a house from the 'future' of the 1950s. As such, there's a lot he hasn't experienced, like punk rock. What should be a heartwarming tale about embracing new things, The House of Tomorrow is currently doing the movie festival rounds.

Release date: 27 April 2018 (United States)
Best bit: Getting ready for the gig.

The Legacy of the Whitetail Deer Hunter

One of several movie projects that Netflix has developed of late, The Legacy of the Whitetail Deer Hunter comes from the same team as Eastbound and Down with Danny McBride co-starring. The story focuses on an estranged father (Josh Brolin, Deadpool 2) and son, as they go hunting for deer in order to forge a stronger bond.

Release date: 6 July 2018 (Global)
Best bit: "What are you, a human calendar?"

Game Over, Man!

The trio from Workaholics are back in this upcoming Netflix project that doesn't feel too dissimilar from their usual TV series antics. As such, if you enjoy the comedy and ridiculous shenanigans of Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson, then Game Over, Man! Is worth a stream.

Release date: 23 March (Global)
Best bit: A crazy hotel room fight.
