There are few bands that embraced being weird as much as the 80s’ Twisted Sister. Luckily, their story is now being told in a new documentary, with a trailer released to amp up expectation.
Born as a “New Jersey version of the NY Dolls,” the band and their strange look (think Lady Gaga as a guy) went unsigned for a long stretch, even though they had some awesome live shows.
The 134 minute documentary is helmed by Andrew Horn, who previously directed The Nomi Song about another oddball, Klaus Nomi.
Twisted Sister is best known for the hits, We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock, posted below for your viewing pleasure. What is perhaps less known is frontman Dee Snider’s brave testimony before the US Senate in 1985 about the role of Parental Advisory in popular music.
WE ARE TWISTED F***ING SISTER! Is out on the 15th of Feb in the States, with a DVD release appearing on the 23rd. Check the trailer below for a taste of the mayhem that was Twisted Sister.
