Twitter adds tool to better find sports-related tweetsBy Robin-Leigh Chetty 11 October 2017 | Categories: news
Twitter's recent changes have garnered mixed reactions, with the company aiming to win over more users with several additions and improvements. The latest one is focused on sports fans, with the social media platform adding a new feature called Happening Now. Found as a tab within the Twitter mobile home page, users can select specific sports events, then take a look at all the tweets linked to said event.

We're rolling out a new way to see what's happening now, starting with sports in 🇺🇸! Available on Android and iOS starting today. https://t.co/lmBFCK4DG0 pic.twitter.com/cv4wL8hCxA
Powered by an algorithm, the relevant tweets will be organised according to user’s interest. Whether or not this will conflict with the number of other algorithmic tools that Twitter already has in place, remains to be seen, with the mobile experience of the app already quite cluttered.
The new feature is set to roll out on both iOS and Android devices in coming days, but events are restricted to the United States for now. As such, unless you're a keen follower of the NFL or NBA, there may not be enough noteworthy events for now.
