Under Armour’s latest running shoe is making its SA debut today – the UA Infinite Elite. By the looks of it, this daily trainer comes with an abundance of cushioning thanks to a thick chunk of HOVR+ midsole.

There’s no official stack height from Under Armour, with the heel pegged between 38mm – 40mm, with a heel to toe drop of 8mm. That’s a lot of cushioning underneath, with UA describing the HOVR+ midsole as “full-length one-piece bead foam midsole that is softer, lighter, and more flexible for a more plush and bouncy underfoot experience”

The Infinite Elite is not a race day shoe, rather fitting into the everyday trainer/recovery shoe bracket. UA believes the shoe will “keep your legs feeling fresh for endless conditioning power.” There’s also an updated outsole design with wider gauges and heel for added guidance, plus UA’s new thin web rubber tech that provides durability without excess weight, according to the company.

Comfort underneath is matched with a deluxe upper, with UA IntelliKnit doing duty for a comfy secure fit, helped along with a 3D-moulded sockliner. You’ll also find a TPU heel clip for added support and lockdown with an asymmetrical pull tab to help with ease of entry.

The shoe’s thick midsole comes at a cost to weight, with the Infinite Elite pulling the scales at 326g for the men’s version. UA doesn’t include its Mapmyrun connected chip in these shoes, as on the latest Machina Breeze (review).

There are very few running shoes going for cheap these days, but Under Armour are pushing these towards the higher end of the price spectrum, with a price of R3 800 for the UA Infinite Elite at its online shop.

If you are looking for a running shoe from Under Armour that’s a bit faster, the UA Infinite Pro is coming to South Africa on 25 April 2024.
