Zoolander and Hansel walk runway at Valentino Show
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 11 March 2015 | Categories: newsWhat started as a promo skit for VH1's sponsored Fashion Awards back in 1996, evolved into a breakout role for Ben Stiller, who was forever immortalised as Derek Zoolander, the world's best male model. The film did a fantastic job of riffing off the many stereotypes that the fashion industry perpetuates, and provided for some of the most quotable quotes in recent movie history. Who can forget "Hansel… He's so hot right now", in reference to the super cool Owen Wilson character, or "What is this! A school for ants?". For a little nostalgia, check out the original VH1 Fashion Award promo below.
Fast forward almost two decades, and Zoolander is back for a sequel, which is slated for release in February 2016. To promote the film, Stiller and Wilson teamed up with Vogue and Valentino to put on a spoof runway show at Paris Fashion Week.
The video sees these two titans of the male modelling industry go head to head on the runway, each with their signature poses well locked in. The real audience that were in attendance gave a standing ovation as the two closed Valentino's Fall/Winter 2015 show.
Afterwards they posed for a few pics with Vogue's editor Anna Wintour, and kept in character throughout. For more behind the scenes videos, head to Vogue's YouTube channel. In the meantime will be practicing our Blue Steel looks in the mirror, till February 2016 rolls round.
