Apple baked in a number of improvements for its latest version of iOS, 11.3, with enhancements to the battery and notifications popping up for personal data requests. There is however, one aspect to the operating system which could come as a nasty surprise to some users, with a recent discovery from Motherboard finding issues with the display. 

To that end, users who have repaired their screens with an aftermarket product are experiencing severe issues with the touch functionality of the iPhone 8 after the update. Motherboard notes that a similar issue cropped up last year, with Apple releasing a swift software patch in order to address it.

While the precise reason for the error is unknown, Motherboard cites iPhone repair shop owner Michael Oberdick, who says that it may be a issue with the iPhone 8 chipset not working with aftermarket displays. This has prompted Oberdick to no longer repair the screens of iPhone 8's. 

Sites like Engadget have reached out to Apple for comment, but no response has been issued at this stage.
