Consumer electronics giant, Apple Inc. is not known for its welcoming attitude towards competition, especially not on its own services.

According to Fortune, Apple last week banned a small magazine from its online App Store because the magazine was about Android, Google's competing mobile operating system.

A developer relations representative from Apple apparently informed the CEO of Mediaprovider, a magazine publisher based in Denmark, that he couldn't put the magazine on Apple's online store. According to Mediaprovider's Brian Dixon, the exchange was short and to the point.

He apparently asked the Apple representative, who identified himself only as Richard, what the problem was, receiving the reply, “You know... your magazine. It's just about Android... we can't have that in our App Store.”

The magazine is a bi-monthly publication and serves as a counterpart to an iPhone magazine which the company began publishing earlier this year.

The amusing thing about this situation is that the small, relatively obscure Android magazine would probably never have attracted a lot of attention if it wasn’t for Apple’s heavy handed tactics. The company has not responded to comment on the matter.
