This elegant notebook sports a magnesium-aluminum alloy real metal cover, leather-patterned palm rest and glass touchpad and also boasts a 16:9 wide-screen dimension in a 12" form factor. Its glass touchpad features a matte exterior etching and allows for multi-touch functionality such as pinch-to-zoom photo browsing as well as web-surfing.
“The U260 is a design one can truly touch and feel that showcases the extreme attention our team places in every aspect of design, from mechanical to human interaction to colour, material and finish,” said Henry Ferreira, Lenovo country general manager Africa.
“Our philosophy is that Idea product design should be simple, unique and provide value, and the IdeaPad U260 delivers just that through the high-quality selection of materials, advanced ergonomics and a signature design concept.”
The U260 is powered by a selection of Intel processors, including the i7 CPU and can be configured with up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, Windows 7 Home Basic or Premium and up to 320 GB of hard drive storage or up to 128 GB of SSD flash-based storage.
Additional features of the U260 include ambient light sensors that automatically adjust the display brightness, based on lighting conditions and Lenovo’s Active Protection System which protects the hard drive in the event of a fall or drop. It also packs Dolby Advanced Audio surround sound speakers, an HDMI output for streaming high-definition content to an HDTV, as well as an integrated web camera for Skype and video calling.
Lenovo’s U260 comes with the company’s Enhanced Experience for Windows 7, which allows for speedier boot-up and shutdown times, in addition to including some system maintenance tools.
