Social networking website MySpace yesterday announced the launch of a new service that will allow users to sync their Facebook and MySpace status updates, posting them on both sites simultaneously.

It has been a long time coming, but it seems MySpace has finally acknowledged its second rate status and is now connecting to the seemingly unstoppable Facebook as well.

In addition to status updates, users will also be able to share music, videos, links and photo’s with their friends on Facebook. Users can also sync their Twitter accounts to MySpace using the same process.

MySpace is still the prime social networking destination for bands and musicians though and with Facebook sync they can share their content, including full album catalogs with their fans on Facebook.

Syncing with Facebook is an easy process, MySpace users simply need to click on the settings box in the update module on their homepage and then check the box next to ‘Facebook’ or ‘Twitter’ or both if they’re feeling particularly social. Then simply follow the steps to sync the accounts and from now on status updates will be automatically shared with friends online. For more help there is an online guide available here.

The new functionality comes in the light of an ongoing effort to make MySpace more accessible and will allow friends (or fans) to interact with the sites’ contents across the web.
