New Alienware gaming notebooks unveiled
By Johan Keyter 20 April 2011 | Categories: newsDell's performance centric Alienware wing yesterday unleashed a new batch of mean gaming notebooks on the world, with the M18x, M14x and renewed M11x R3 arriving on our earthly shores.
Most gamers are already familiar with the Alienware performance brand, known for creating insane looking, super powerful gaming rigs and notebooks. The three new devices all take advantage of Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors as well as Nvidia's Optimus line of switchable graphics.
The M18x and M14x are two brand new additions to the Alienware line, while the M11x R3 is an updated version of the existing M11x ultra-portable gaming notebook. Each of the new models sport slightly refined frames, although Alienware's signature design is still clearly evident.
Users looking for the perfect portable entertainment solution will also be happy to learn that the new M18x and M14x supports WirelessHD technology, allowing them to stream video straight to an HD TV, with no cables required.
The top of the range M18x will, in addition to enjoying an expansive 18”display, also benefit from a factory overlocked 4 GHz CPU as well as an HDMI input for external devices, including game consoles.
The M11x R3 promises to bring eight hours of battery life to the table, while the M14x is rated at six hours. No battery life info is available for the M18x, which is scheduled to land next month.
We can only hope that the new models don't take too long reaching sunny South Africa.
