Redmond to adopt new name in Japan
By Hanleigh Daniels 6 July 2010 | Categories: newsMicrosoft is changing its name in Japan reportedly to celebrate the company’s 25 years of doing business in the land of the rising sun.
According to Kotaku, Redmond will on 1 February 2011 change its name from the current Microsoft Co., Ltd.to Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. The reasoning behind the change is that the company will be celebrating its 25th anniversary of operation in Japan next year.
The president and CEO of Microsoft Co. Ltd., Japan Yasuyuki Higuchi stated that the change will mean that consumers can become more aware that Microsoft has roots in Japan. Redmond is also going to move and concentrate its corporate headquarters to Tokyo’s Shinagawa.
