PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW IF YOU WERE THINKING OF CATCHING THE CEREMONY LATER.
Last night, the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles played host to the 90th annual Academy Awards. With this one of the more anticipated awards ceremonies, given the recent #MeToo movement, as well as a number of nominations for female and non-white actors, directors and screenwriters, all eyes were on Hollywood to see who would win.
For the most part the 2018 Academy Awards did not serve up any surprises, unlike the La La Land/ Moonlight fiasco of last year.
Instead many of the same winners this award season took home Oscars last night, with Guillermo del Toro managing two for Best Picture and Best Director for The Shape of Water. Other notable winners included Jordan Peele for Best Original Screenplay for Get Out, as well as Best Visual Effects going to Blade Runner 2049.
