Crackdown 3 not launching with Xbox One X
By Staff Writer 17 August 2017 | Categories: newsThere’s one less launch title to look forward to when the Xbox One X launches on 7 November this year. The hotly anticipated Xbox (and PC) exclusive, Crackdown 3 has been delayed. In an email to Polygon, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis, stated that this 4K supporting title will now only appear in Autumn next year.
As with most game delays, far from a rare occurrence, game quality on release seems to be a concern for developers Reagent Games and Sumo Digital. Loftis notes, “Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that.”
This sandbox game was first announced at E3 way back in 2014, with cloud-powered real-time destruction provided by Microsoft Azure promised during multi-player online play.
According to The Verge, the delay leaves Microsoft without an Xbox exclusive for the One X console’s big launch day coming up. It’s far from the ideal situation to be in, but in our opinion rather get a game as important as Crackdown 3 right from the start, instead of it being a dark spot when the new console launches.
