Facebook turns 12 today and to mark the occasion the company has unveiled a new feature aimed at creating personalised videos. The social media giant has taken to calling its birthday "Friends Day", and this year they wish to help "the world to celebrate and reflect on the importance of connecting."

To that end, Friends Day Videos filter through all your Facebook photos, tagged with specific contacts in mind and collate them into one video. From there on, they can shared with those in your network of online friends.

Along with the new video tool, Facebook also detailed how the platform is bringing people together, with the number of users doubling in the past five years. Furthermore, Facebook revealed in a blog post that, “during that same time period, the degrees of separation between a typical pair of Facebook users has continued to decrease to 3.57 degrees, down from 3.74 degrees in 2011."

Added to the Friends Day Videos, Facebook will also be releasing two sticker packs, Best Friends and Friendship, for its online community to get stuck into.
