Gods of Egypt trailer debuts filled with CGI insanity
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 18 November 2015 | Categories: newsWhat happens we two Egyptian gods duke it out? As it turns out, lots of CGI action if the first trailer for Gods of Egypt is anything to go by. The film sees Horus (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of Game of Thrones fame) and Set (portrayed by Gerard Butler, a.k.a King Leonidas from 300) square off for control of ancient Egypt.
Horus loses to Set, having his eyes stripped from his head in the process, as Set brings his tyrannical rule over the region. As such, it's up to a young man named Bek (Brenton Thwaites) to retrieve one of Horus' lost eyes and help him defeat Set.
Much like Exodus: Gods and Kings, there doesn't seem to be a real Egyptian in sight. Instead, that portion of the film's budget must have gone to CGI and special effects. Gods of Egypt has no perceivable message behind it, other than good old fashioned fun at the movies.
Hitting cinemas in April 2016 (United Kingdom), click play on the trailer below and let the CGI insanity ensue.
