You’ll know director David O. Russell from Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. In Joy he again teams up with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, telling the tale of family across four generations. Lawrence is Joy, the family matriarch and founder of a business empire, who is told that the world doesn’t owe her anything.

Joy looks like a drama with a capital D, interspaced with some lighter moments, while Robert De Niro and Isabella Rossellini also star.
