We're a few months away from the 2018 FIFA World Cup getting underway in Russia, which means it's time for the sponsors to start showcasing what they'll be bringing to showcase.. As official timekeeper for the tournament, Hublot has done just that by debuting the smartwatch that referees will be wearing.
Named the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, this offering will sport Android's recently rebranded Wear OS, and is another in a long line of luxury watches that have gone smart. Powering this particular model is an Intel Atom Z34XX processor, which is also found in Tag Heuer's Connected Modular 45 smartwatch.
Other features include a 400x400 Amoled display, a 410 mAh battery and Bluetooth 4.1. All of this will at the disposal of officials, with the watch also being used to alert them when a goal has been scored via goal line technology.
Should you not be a World Cup referee, Hublot will be selling the watch to those who can fit the $5 200 asking price, with 2018 watches being made available to purchase. The consumer version will be decked out in some of the colours and flags of competing nations, which means there won't be a South African version.
