Ip Man 3 kicks off with new trailer
By Staff Writer 19 January 2016 | Categories: newsLet’s be honest, Donnie Yen is the current boss of martial arts movies, soon to be starring in the new Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Legend and, more importantly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Perhaps best known in the west for his work in the two Ip Man movies (about Yip Man, the master of Bruce Lee), a new trailer for the third instalment has kicked off the countdown to the international release.
To us, the plot is inconsequential since what we’re actually after is the battle between Yen and Mike Tyson (as a property developer trying to take over the city by not asking nicely). It is Tyson’s first proper role in an action movie and the behind the scenes footage (posted at the bottom) shows the intensity he brings to the movie.
As important as Donnie Yen’s presence is that of expert martial art choreographer, Yuen Woo-ping (having worked on The Matrix and Drunken Master), while helming the project, for the third time we might add, is director Wilson Yip.
No official release is available yet for South Africa, even though IP Man 3 has debuted in certain countries already. Hit the trailer below, while a short behind the scenes clip at the bottom will provide some background to how much effort is needed to make the fight scenes appear flawless.
