At the beginning of the month, most of the world's top tech manufacturers were assembled at IFA 2017 in Berlin. Microsoft was also in attendance, but kept a relatively low profile, instead focusing on the devices that its OEMs were working on or revealed. Now, Microsoft is going to showcase its latest offerings, with a Mixed Reality event scheduled for 3 October in San Francisco, California.

The company has routinely reserved time in October for its standalone device unveilings, with previous years yielding the Surface Book, Surface Studio and HoloLens. This time round, the latter will come into sharper focus, as Microsoft continues its push into the field of Mixed Reality. Over the past year, Microsoft has released a developer version of the HoloLens, so we may be seeing a fully fledged consumer version make its debut in San Francisco.  

Along with the possibility of a new HoloLens, Microsoft will more than likely preview what the Windows 10 Creators Update will empower users to do in Mixed Reality.

With the majority of manufacturers focusing on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Microsoft's move to integrate the two into one solution may prove successful moving forward. Greater clarity, however, should come 3 October though.
