New Crocodile Dundee movie nothing but lies by Aussies
By Staff Writer 25 January 2018 | Categories: newsWell that’s disappointing. Yesterday we reported that a new Crocodile Dundee movie has released its first few teasers, with Danny McBride starring as Dundee’s son, going to Australia to help find his father.
It turns out, this might be nothing more than a marketing ploy by Tourism Australia, if the Brisbane Times is to be believed.
The Brisbane Times notes sources claiming that the teasers are part of a broader viral marketing campaign for Tourism Australia, with more clips set to come during the NFL Super Bowl LII on 4 February 2018.
Suspicion around the interwebs were raised after reports of the movie appeared out of nowhere, with industry news regarding crew and production almost non-existant.
The newspaper also states the director of Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home, listed on IMBD as Steve Rogers, is apparently a commercial director with Revolver, an ad agency in Sydney. Chris Hemsworth, who was set to play Wally Jr., is also a Tourism Australia ambassador.
We would still like to believe that the report from the Brisbane Times is part of an even broader viral campaign for the movie, and that soon it will be revealed that the Danny McBride flick will actually debut on 1 June as IMBD states. Tourism Australia have not confirmed the campaign from their side, so there’s still hope.
We’ve posted the teasers below for your viewing pleasure.
