Sony Pictures' Venom spinoff hitting cinemas in October 2018
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 17 March 2017 | Categories: NewsBack when Andrew Garfield was donning Spidey's red and blue tights, Sony Pictures had plans to develop Venom and Sinister Six spinoff films. Those projects had to be put on hold, however, as Spider-Man went under another reboot by joining the Marvel universe in Captain America: Civil War. Now, it appears as if Sony has resurrected its interest in a Venom movie, according to a report from Variety.
Everyone's favourite symbiote also has a cinema release date, with 5 October in the United States being penciled in. Other details for the project are a little harder to pin down for now. What we do know though, is that Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) will be writing the script together, and not Dante Harper (Edge of Tomorrow) as we initially thought last year.
Also unclear at this stage is who will be playing Eddie Brock (Venom's host body) and whether Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) will be joining the fray too. The first order of business though, remains the new Spidey flick, which hits cinemas in July this year. Take a look at the first trailer once again, below.
