It looks like Sony's universe of Spider-Man comic book characters is shrinking, with plans for a Silver Sable and Black Cat spin-off film scrapped. The studio has removed the film, titled Silver & Black, from its release schedule, with the movie initially slated for release in February 2019.

That said, Deadline reports that a spin-off for both characters is not off the table altogether, with the project heading back into the development stage. As such, Sony is likely waiting to see how audiences react to its Venom movie starring Tom Hardy (The Revenant), which lands in cinemas in October this year.

If that is indeed the case, it does not speak highly of how the studio views its spin-off projects, especially with rumours of Marvel working on a Sinister Six style movie to be a part of its Spider-Man films.
