The X-Files returning to TV
By Staff Writer 25 March 2015 | Categories: newsHaving watched a number of the old X-Files episodes recently, we can definitely say that, despite it still being strong on the entertainment, they do indeed show their age. Thus, word this week that FOX has ordered six episodes of the iconic 90s sci-fi show comes as awesome news.
The setup remains the same, with creator/executive producer Chris Carter at the helm, and FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, still investigating strange happenings. Fox is keeping a veil of secrecy around the project, calling it a “six-episode event series” and revealing only that production is set to start during (our) winter 2015.
The series originally premiered in September 1993 and ran for a massive nine seasons - one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
We’re quite sure that a number of younger TechSmart readers might not be familiar with the series, but the theme tune (written by Mark Snow) should ring a bell. Hit play below for some instant nostalgia.
