The best trailers shown during Super Bowl LI
By Staff Writer 6 February 2017 | Categories: newsIn the wee hours of this morning, most of the United States tuned in to watch Tom Brady and the New England Patriots come back from a 19-point halftime deficit to beat Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. It wasn't simply about the football, however, with Lady Gaga performing and a number of movie and TV series trailers also on show. With that in mind, we've rounded up some of the best, apart from the teaser for Stranger Things season two.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Baby Groot and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy are hitting cinemas in May, but who they'll be going up against is still unknown at this stage. Sadly, this teaser does not offer any hints. Nevertheless it's good to see the gang back together again, plus there are a few new team members to take account of.
What do we know about the latest installment in the Fast and Furious franchise? Well, Dom (Vin Diesel) has joined up with Charlize Theron (Cipher) and the pair are up to no good. Other that that, you need not know that much as the newest clip is as action-packed as all the rest.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge
Jack Sparrow's latest outing goes by many names. Locally it will be called Salazar's Revenge, and features Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) as the titular cursed captain. As per norm, Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is being tracked down by the villain, and will bring his swaggering style to the fore.
In cinemas later this month, A Cure for Wellness channels the same sort of vibe as Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. It stars Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and the latest teaser for the film takes the guise of antidepressant drug commercial before making a dark turn.
Initial casting concerns aside, the live-action version of Ghost in the Shell could be mightily impressive. Starring Scarlett Johansson as the Major, a new 30 second clip has arrived. Our only hope, is that the best bits of the film have not already been shown.
Hopkins, Wahlberg and Optimus Prime, need we say more? Yes, ok fine then. The fifth Transformers film will supposedly detail why the Autobots and Decepticons continuously travel to Earth. What we're more interested in, however, is how many explosions Michael Bay has conjured up for this one.
