The penultimate season of Game of Thrones will air in the United States on 16 July, and even though we didn't need any further encouragement to watch the seventh installment of the series, the first trailer from HBO has arrived to dissect. 

All the major players are shown, but it has Cersei (Lena Headey, 300) and the remaining members of House Lannister that do much of the talking. To that end, the current ruler of Westeros stands on a giant map of her kingdom, pointing out all the impending threats headed her way. 

These include Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke, Terminator: Genisys), who has the combined might of her Unsullied army, the Dothraki and of course three dragons to call upon. In the North, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington, Pompeii) appears to be destined to take the throne as the King in the North. There's also the even greater threat of the White Walkers, which will either force all the warring Houses of Westeros to band together, or fall separately.  

Either way, this should be one of the best seasons to date, with a few surprises likely in store too. Hit play on the trailer below and enjoy.
