Torrenting is alive and well. No matter which side of the fence you sit on when it comes to illegally downloaded content, however, how frequently a movie or TV show is pirated is often a solid indication of just how popular it is. 

While we're sure the producers involved with making these movies and TV shows won't find any silver linings in this fact, Torrent Freak has been able to, listing the top ten pirated movies and TV shows during 2016, based on their own independent data.  

Scrolling through the list, there are quite a few titles we expected to be there. Amazon's The Grand Tour for example, placed tenth, as a separate research firm dubbed it the most pirated show of all time a few weeks ago. Number one on the TV show list was unsurprisingly Game of Thrones. On the silver screen side of things, Deadpool ranked in first place, followed by another superhero flick, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
