Third full-length trailer for Kubo and the Two Strings looks amazing
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 29 April 2016 | Categories: newsIf you've been less than enamoured with the spate of Disney Pixar films recently, might we direct your attention to Kubo and the Two Strings. A third trailer for film has landed online to fawn over, leaving plenty of time to build up anticipation for its August release date (19 August in the States).
What perhaps has us more intrigued than anything is the 3D stop-motion animation style that production company, Laika has used for this film. You might be familiar with their work, having done Boxtrolls and Paranorman in the past. Kubo and the Two Strings though, looks like their most ambitious project to date, telling the story of a young Japanese boy who loses his mother to a pair of evil spirits, finding himself on the run and armed with only a shamisen (traditional Japanese guitar), Kubo needs to unlock an age old legacy.
The film enlists the voice talents of some pretty heavy Hollywood hitters, including Charlize Theron as a monkey and Matthew McConaughey as a beetle warrior. All in all, Kubo and the Two Strings looks like it could be one of the best stop motion films released in some time. To decide for yourself, click play on the trailer after the break.
