Last year, we saw the UA Flow Velocity Wind 2 (review) released by Under Armour. This was the second iteration of their lightweight running shoe where the midsole also acts as the outsole. This concept has been seen on their basketball shoes and has now been brought over to Under Armour's training shoe line with the new UA Flex To Flow.

Under Armour notes the trainer is lightweight and durable, with cushioning that provides a comfortably snug fit, making it the go-to trainer for any sports activity at any level of training. From what we know about the Flow midsole, it certainly should be able to tackle road running too, although we suspect shorter distances around 10km and below would work best.

There are a few things to note. The UA IntelliKnit upper with strategic stretch and support looks highly breathable, with decent support around the heel area and a lacing system Under Armour notes secures the midfoot.

At 255 g per shoe (we suspect this is for the Men's size UK 8), it’s slightly heavier than the Wind 2 running shoe, with this mostly due to the heavier uppers. Still, it’s really lightweight, and certainly suitable for HIIT training, crossfit, boot camp, and perhaps even pilates. Under Armour states an internal shank is present which provides added support, while the Flow midsole offers long-lasting cushioning as well as enough traction for the gym or crossfit studio.

The new UA Flex To Flow is available in both men and women sizes with a recommended retail price of just under R3 000, and is available in stores and online at https://underarmour.co.za/.
